Computer Freeze during install (when says starting windows...)
When installing windows xp build 2600, the installer freezes. This happens during the preparing to install stage. The dots at the bottom stop moving so I know its frozen. If I try to boot from the disk and install it that way, it gets to copying files, then freezes. Any ideas?

I bought a new mobo (Abit KT7) and tried to install Win2k on a formatted HD (Western Digital). Mandrake 8 freeze during install process.
It seems that the kernel freeze at the first boot (The dbootstrap installation runs well, but not the first boot). It seems that there is a Problem Just want to tell you that I didn't install any modules in the kernel during the base installation process. I just install from a set of CDROMS for the time being.

Hi Linda, Great idea trying PP 9 DCE on another computer. ;-) In addition to Michelle's excellent suggestions, you might want to disable your screen saver and NO wallpaper for the installation. Also before you try to install the PP 9 DCE, reboot your computer affording most of your system resources to work for you.

I've been trying to install Windows 98 ( I followed all of the instructions listed on the microsoft website) and it keeps freezing up during the setting up the hardware phase with 10 minutes remaining. I've tried turning the computer off and then back on as setup suggests, but this has not helped. Please help.
